How To Create Appointment Types

Appointment types allow you to categorize the appointments you create for easy sorting, organizing, and filtering. Additionally, appointment types are associated with a specified duration (e.g. 1 hour) to simplify integration with Insight's calendar and reduce the need for manual configuration.


This article will walk through the step-by-step process for creating a new appointment type in Insight.

  1. Login to your Insight account, and on the upper right of the screen select the dropdown next to your location name and click ApplicationsClick_Applications.png

  2. On the left of the screen, under Application Settings click Appointment Types

  3. Click the ADD APPOINTMENT TYPE button

  4. In the Add Appointment Type pop-up, input a unique name for the appointment type in the Name field. Note: to close the Add Appointment Type pop-up at any time without saving changes, click the X in the upper-right of the pop-up or click CANCEL.

  5. A Length defines the duration of an appointment type. The Length value is important because it will be the default duration booked for any appointments of this type. The default value is 30 minutes. You can use the Length field to select a length for your appointment type.   The h (hours) and m (minutes) values can be changed separately by clicking the current h and m values and using the dropdown menus.

  6. Optional: If you want to create the appointment type as an inactive appointment type that cannot be used (until it is activated later), uncheck the Active checkbox. If you want the appointment type to be available and active upon creation, skip this step.

  7. Click ADD to create your Appointment Type

That's it! Your appointment type will be created and added to the list of available appointment types.
